How much does a garden design cost?
Small garden design starts from £1,200. Medium gardens from £2,200, and large gardens from £4,500. Every project is different, so book a free discovery call and we’ll give you an exact quote based on your space and what you’d like to achieve.
How does payment work?
For design-only projects, payment is 100% upfront before we begin. For design and build projects, payment is staged: 30% deposit to start the design, 40% when the build begins on site, and 30% on completion — so you’re never paying for work that hasn’t happened yet.
Do I own the design?
Yes. Once your design is complete, the final print-ready files are yours to keep — no lock-in, no ongoing fees. You can build with our recommended landscapers or take the plan to any landscaper in the UK.
Do you work UK-wide?
Yes. Baker Landscape Design offers a fully remote online design service, so we can design your garden wherever you are in the United Kingdom — not just locally.
How does remote garden design work?
It’s simple. You share photos and measurements of your garden (we’ll guide you through exactly what we need) along with a brief during your discovery call. Janina then designs your garden remotely and delivers the full design pack to you digitally.
How long does it take?
Fast — it’s one of the things clients love most. While many designers take weeks or even months, most of our designs are delivered in 5 to 14 working days from receiving your deposit and brief:
- Small gardens — from 5 working days
- Medium gardens — 7–10 working days
- Large gardens — 10–14 working days
You’ll receive three initial concepts to choose from, then unlimited revisions on your favourite until it’s exactly right. Because every design is created personally by Janina — never mass-produced — we take a limited number of projects at a time, so your slot and exact timescale are confirmed when you book.
What do I receive?
A complete design pack including a scaled layout plan and a full planting plan — everything your landscaper needs to build your garden’s structure and planting exactly as designed. Want an itemised materials list too (paving, decking and fencing specs and quantities, ready to take to suppliers)? That’s available as a £350 add-on.
Is the materials list included?
The planting plan is included free with every design. A separate itemised materials list — covering hard landscaping materials, quantities and specifications — is available as a £350 add-on if you’d like it.
How many revisions are included?
Up to three rounds of revisions are included within your agreed concept brief, so we can refine the design until it’s right. Any additional rounds beyond that are scoped and quoted separately.
What if I don’t love any of the three concepts?
That’s rare, but if none of the three initial concepts feel right, we’ll talk through what’s missing and refine the direction together — your revisions are there to get the design to a place you’re genuinely happy with, not just to tweak one option you’re lukewarm on.
Can you design just part of my garden?
Absolutely. You don’t need a full redesign — we’re happy to focus on a specific area such as a patio, a planting border, a courtyard, a seating area or a water feature.
Can I add a 3D visual or an in-person visit?
Yes. If you’d like to see your garden in 3D before it’s built, we offer a SketchUp 3D visualisation for £350. If you’d prefer Janina to visit in person rather than work from photos and measurements, an in-person consultation is available from £350, depending on location.
Do you help with the build too?
For clients in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, Janina can recommend trusted local landscapers to bring your design to life. For remote clients anywhere in the UK, your design pack contains everything any competent landscaper needs to build it.
