Janina Baker’s passion for gardening began as a child, helping her parents in their garden — and it never left her. She knew from an early age that garden design would be her great love and lifelong career.

She trained in garden landscape design and horticulture at Capel Manor College, London, before spending years as Head Gardener at Mackerye End House in Wheathampstead — a Jacobean Manor House set within 9 acres of stunning grounds, where she was entrusted with redesigning every garden space on the estate.

Janina doesn’t have a single signature style. Her approach is to design the garden that best suits you — your personality, your lifestyle, and your home. Every project begins with listening. Every design ends with something that feels entirely yours.

She draws inspiration from nature itself: colour, texture, plant architecture, and the way a well-designed outdoor space can become a natural extension of your home. Whether it’s a compact urban courtyard or a sweeping country garden, Janina brings the same care, knowledge and creativity to every project.

Now operating under Baker Landscape Design alongside her son Lucas, Janina offers the same bespoke, hands-on garden design service — now available UK-wide via remote design.
